City Pig’s analysis

Ever since I have moved to Canary Wharf for work, admittedly there is less to share in interesting food eateries. However, a colleague suggested Caminos and I was happy for new places I have not been to.

It is near Westferry circus, some slight walk from the main part of Canary Wharf. This is right next to Royal China. There was nothing particular to shout about in the design of the restaurant. However, once we picked our dishes the food really did the talking.

We picked the following:

1)     Tortilla de Patata

2)     Patatas Bravas

3)     Gambas Al Ajillo

4)     Pinchito de Pollo

5)     Jamon Serrano

6)     Pan con tomate

I was really impressed by the quality of the dishes but as always tapas is not cheap. I noticed how empty it was on a Wednesday lunch time as possibly due to empty pockets which happens after Christmas time,

The ham may have been slightly too salty but perhaps fine with some bread to go with it or red wine.
The free olives on the table are very good quality. They are firm and juicy.

One thing to mention is the service is quite slow and you have to wave your whole body to get the waiters attention. Not exactly flattering or elegant!

It was a satisfying Spanish tapas meal but mainly for a Friday treat. I am guessing the slow service is the way of helping us Londoners to digest our meal and enjoy our food. Unfortunately we don't get siestas and the service will need to adapt to the busy city workers lifestyle.
